Bracknell town centre regeneration plans feature living walls

It’s no surprise that so many individuals and organisations are taking advantage of living walls. These creations can add dynamism and greenery to otherwise bland spaces. Particularly in urban areas, they can have a huge impact, bringing added cheer and interest.

One town that is set to benefit from a wall like this is Bracknell. According to a report in the Reading Post, a project to transform the centre of the urban space includes details of a green wall.

After years of waiting, detailed proposals for the transformation of the Broadway and Crossway area within the town have been submitted. The plans even include information about the lighting, the colour of gravel and litter bin designs.

Commenting on the development, Councillor Marc Brunel-Walker, executive member for economic development and regeneration at Bracknell Forest Council, said: “The regeneration of our town centre is about to start – we have never been in this position before. This is the culmination of years of work after a number of false starts. We will end up with the most incredible town centre that we will be incredibly proud of that will last us for years to come.”

He added: “I understand there will be a certain amount of scepticism as people will be concerned we will end up with an ‘Identikit’ town centre. But this is not just about the shops, it is about the design and how carefully thought out it is – from the living walls to the planting and access to the car park.”
