Iconic and Timeless Designs For Pen Lovers

The German company, Lamy, was first established in 1930, yet quickly became one of the most highly-regarded pen manufacturers and designers. With the Lamy brand becoming established in 1952 following the launch of the Lamy 27 pen, the company has been a market leader in its native Germany for many years and is valued and respected worldwide for design and quality. Lamy fountain pens are particularly popular, especially the 2000 fountain pen, and 7.5 million Lamy pens are sold annually worldwide.

Launched in 1966, the 2000 is perhaps the most iconic of the Lamy pens available, and it was this pen which helped to establish a reputation for quality design for the company. Unlike the other Lamy fountain pens, which use interchangeable stainless steel alloy Z 50 nibs (allowing users to alternate between different sizes, such as Extra Fine, Fine, Medium and Broad), the 2000 has a 14 carat gold alloy nib. At its time of launch, it was notable for having a body made of a special fibreglass resin and unlike other Lamy fountain pens, it is the only one to use bottled ink, rather than cartridges. Nevertheless, this iconic pen is just as popular today as it was nearly 50 years ago.

Another of Lamy’s great design innovations has been the Dialog 3 fountain pen, which features a retractable nib. Unlike its competitors, this pen retracts through a twist rather than click action. Lamy believes that they have a pen to match every personality – which will be your choice?
